Burger King ceases using tomatoes in its food preparations as tomatoes go on "vacation"

 



Burger King has joined the list of quick service restaurant (QSR) companies like McDonald's and Subway in giving up using tomatoes in meal preparations due to the rising cost of the essential kitchen ingredient.

The 400-store Burger King chain in the nation, run by Restaurant Brands Asia, stated in a letter on its website's help page that it has removed tomatoes from its cuisine due to "quality" and "supply" problems.

Since we believe in offering real and authentic food, Restaurant Brands Asia Ltd. has very high requirements for quality. We are unable to include tomatoes in our food because of unpredictably fluctuating conditions on the quality and supply of tomato crops. We'll have tomatoes again soon, you can be sure of that, the message said.
